Many patients taking pegylated interferon therapy experience loss of hair. Understandably, this can be a scary side effect for many patients. But rest assuredhair loss during treatment is temporary. Most hair loss/hair changes occur more frequently when therapy is continued beyond 3 to 4 months. Dont worry, it almost always grows back after treatment ends. Also, its important to note that all cases of reported hair loss are generally mild. They can range from slight hair loss or thinning hair to changes in hair texture. So, while you probably wont like the way your hair looks and feels during part of your treatment, you are the only one who might notice it anyway. There are ways to deal with unwanted side effects like hair loss. Try some of the ideas listed below. TIPS TO MANAGE HAIR LOSS Remember, some hair loss is normal during Hep C therapy. It is generally mild and a temporary effect. If you are having trouble with this or any other side effect, please talk with your healthcare provider. He or she may be able to help.
