Each year, another 550,000 people are diagnosed with the condition. Heart failure contributes to or causes about 300,000 deaths each year. Heart failure does not mean that the heart has stopped or is about to stop working. It means that it cannot pump out enough blood to keep up with the bodys demands for energy and oxygen.
