What is Nexavar?
Nexavar
(sorafenib) tablets is a prescription, anticancer medicine used to treat adults with kidney cancer, also known as
renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Your cancer specialist has prescribed Nexavar to help treat your cancer.
How do I take Nexavar?
Nexavar is a pill that should be taken by mouth and swallowed whole. It is usually taken
as two 200-mg tablets twice a day. It is important to take Nexavar exactly as your doctor
has prescribed. Do not chew Nexavar. You should take Nexavar with water on
an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal).
What if I miss a dose of Nexavar?
If you miss a dose of Nexavar, skip the missed dose, and take your next dose at
your regular time. Do not double your dose of Nexavar. Call your doctor right
away if you take more than your prescribed dose.
What should I tell my doctor before starting Nexavar and while taking Nexavar?
You should speak to your doctor right away if you think that you are pregnant, because Nexavar may harm the
unborn baby.
Women should avoid becoming pregnant while undergoing treatment with Nexavar. Adequate
contraception should be used during therapy and for at least 2 weeks after completing therapy. Both men and women
should use effective birth control measures. Nexavar should not be used while breast-feeding.
You should tell your doctor or healthcare professional about any liver, kidney, blood pressure, heart problems, chest pain,
or any other conditions you have in addition to cancer.
You should tell your doctor or healthcare professional about all medications you are taking (including any over-the-
counter drugs, vitamins, or herbal medicines), and talk to your doctor or healthcare professional before taking any
new medication. Nexavar and certain other medicines can interact with each other and cause serious side effects.
Especially, tell your doctor if you take warfarin (Coumadin).
If you need to have a surgical or dental procedure, you should inform your doctor or healthcare professional that you are
taking Nexavar.
Let your doctor or healthcare professional know if you have ever had an allergic reaction to Nexavar.
If you experience any symptom that bothers you or does not go away, contact your doctor or healthcare professional, or
seek medical attention as soon as possible. ...
