According to recent figures, the number of women diagnosed with breast cancer in Europe grows continuously, especially in eastern Europe. The risk of contracting breast cancer is highest in northern and western Europe 1 . Throughout their lifetime, around 1 in 9 women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer. These worrying trends are only partly explained by life choices and changes in lifestyle.
