Ask yourself these questions: Am I forgetting important things everyday? Am I having trouble making decisions? Am I having trouble recognizing and naming objects? Am I having trouble recognizing familiar people? If you answered no to most of these questions, you probably aren t getting Alzheimer s disease. You may, however, be overstressed, depressed, or anxious and might need to reexamine your lifestyle. Stress can mimic dementia. If you answered yes to these questions, see your doctor and have some tests performed to rule out Alzheimer s disease. 2) If I get Alzheimer s Disease, what will happen to my quality of life? Having Alzheimer s disease is most assuredly traumatic, but it doesn t mean you will have no quality of life. Some people with Alzheimer s disease still enjoy life. Some of it has to do with having a positive attitude and learning to let lose of a need to control, so that each and every moment can be experienced and made the most of. Keep in mind that we don t have the past, and the future is not here, so the moment is all that we have. 3) If my parent has Alzheimer s Disease, will I get it? There have been documented cases whereas people have been diagnosed with Alzheimer s disease and changed their lifestyle and the disease receded.
