The symposium is designed for both clinicians and basic scientists who are
interested in Pagetâ s disease (PD) and fibrous dysplasia (FD) who work in the field
of bone biology. Learning objectives for symposium attendees are: 1.) to understand
current thinking on the etiology and pathophysiology of PD and FD; 2.) to become
aware of most effective diagnostic tests for evaluating PD and FD; 3.) to appreciate
the clinical manifestations and complications of PD and FD; 4.) to become aware of
the effectiveness of the drugs used to treat PD and FD; and 5.) to understand the role
of surgery in managing PD and FD.
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential
